The weather was perfect and the team, despite many of them working round the clock, got the shop ready for the 11am opening ceremony!
A large crowd gathered outside and waiting with eager anticipation. After a few words from Richard, Rose Elliot made a lovely speech about how wonderful the new shop is and how she’s been waiting for years for something like this to open in Southampton. Rose then cut the (recycled, fair trade!) raffia ribbon and the shopping began……
There must have been over 100 people in the shop and the queues were long. But everyone waited patiently and the till system (and operators!) stood up to the test.
There were many wonderful comments and no wonder – the display of fruit and veg alone was enough to get one salivating 🙂
The Deli counter was kept very busy…..
And then of course there was the bread!
After the prize draw and then live music from Anja McCloskey the shop was still packed with customers……..
A truly great start – we couldn’t have asked for more, apart from a bit more sleep beforehand maybe 😉
