35 hours a week, but this could be negotiable but would include alternate Saturdays (closed Sundays) and incorporating either an opening or closing each day or a combination of both.
After a successful three month probation period, candidate will be invited to become a member of our worker's co-operative and this role could potentially lead to a director position within the business for the right person.

Rate of pay: £7.50 an hour with possibility of a pay rise at a later date.

How is our co-op structured? Our employees are invited to become members of the co-op after a successful probation period- after this they can attend member meetings and contribute to the running of Rice Up; become involved in decision making processes and enjoy benefits such as the possibility of profit share and becoming a director in the future. Directors are also members of the co-op but they have more responsibility and play a bigger role in running the business. We also have a number of volunteers.
- Serving customers and assisting with customer queries
- Helping to put away deliveries and replenishing stock on shop floor
- General cleaning and tidying
- Helping to open and close the shop
- Refilling and cleaning loose food dispensers – please note, this task involves some heavy lifting.
- Checking product use by dates and making reductions
- Carrying out health and safety checks e.g checking fridge temperatures
- Carrying out other general shop assistant tasks as necessary
Other duties you may be asked to help with:
- Creating orders and dealing with suppliers
- Updating the website and social media
- Prepping food in our kitchen for the deli counter
- Data entry
- Updating till system and creating price labels
- Helping at events outside of the shop premises such as vegan fayres
- Creating window displays
